Our Leaders
Our Conductor, James Young

James has conducted the Eildon Singers since 2012. He was born in Edinburgh and studied at Birmingham University and Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He has had a varied career in music education, in the London area and in Scotland, teaching in primary, secondary, specialist music schools and instrumental music services. Since university he has conducted various instrumental ensembles and choirs. On returning to Edinburgh in 1999 he worked for eight years in the area choirs of the National Youth Choir of Scotland in Edinburgh and Midlothian, establishing and directing the latter choir. He now lives in Melrose and the choir is proud to have him as their conductor.
Our Accompanist, Jim Letham

Our choir is delighted to welcome Jim Letham as their accompanist. Jim is a well-known figure in music circles in the Borders. He retired from the post of Principal Teacher of Music at Hawick High School and is a composer, conductor and singer as well as a versatile accompanist. He directed the Eildon Singers for many years and now directs the Abbey Consort. We are honoured that he has found time among his many activities to join us.
